"Reflections in
Cardinalwood" Steinway
Art Case Piano, Model B, 2001
"Reflections in Cardinalwood" was my second commission from
Steinway & Sons. It uses a deep red veneer to cover all
the parts. There are many similarities to "Reflections",
but in fact each part is modified to some degree. The same
"fountain" theme was used, but in differing proportion or
cadence, and some small details were added, such as the
decorative veneer for the skirt of the bench. Steinway
describes it as "stunning".
Working with Steinway is a unique experience. These are
experienced, professional people who don't have to prove
anything to anybody. They have earned, and richly deserve
the reputation they hold worldwide.
